On November 30, the launching ceremony of Hangzhou’s seventh college student employment and entrepreneurship mentoring program and the first co-creation of career festival were held at the Xiasha Campus of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics. This event is hosted by Hangzhou Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and hosted by Hangzhou Employment Service Center and Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics.
The mentorship program is the strategic deployment of the Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to comprehensively implement the special action to promote employment, and is an important measure to promote the development of the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The mentorship program aims to improve college students' employment and entrepreneurship capabilities, takes practical growth as the fundamental starting point, and adheres to the student-oriented philosophy of "leading, accompanying, growing, and sharing". Through mentoring, workplace practice, lecture training, pairing tutoring, on-site consultation, event review, and project evaluation, it promotes the five-party linkage between the government, universities, enterprises, mentors, and students, and gathers extensive participation from social forces to jointly promote college students' employment and entrepreneurship.
It is understood that the mentoring program takes practical growth as its fundamental starting point. Through government subsidies, it selects a group of high-quality enterprises and institutions to be recognized as college student internship training bases, organizes students to enter the workplace in advance, and carries out practical job training for a period of 3-6 months to help students improve their employment competitiveness and create a talent reservoir for enterprise development in Hangzhou.
Since 2018, the "Mentorship Program" has gone global with mentor resources and brought "Hangzhou experience" to more cities, such as Jinhua Vocational and Technical College, Zhejiang Normal University, Shaoxing Vocational and Technical College, Ningbo University, etc. In May this year, the mentoring program was extended to Anhui and a service center was established at Huangshan University.
Data from the mentorship program shows that over the past six years, the mentorship program has made every effort to build an interconnected supply and demand docking platform. So far, 872 internship training bases for college students have been established, providing more than 30,000 internship positions and 106,679 internship training students each year; the "What's Your Idea" project has been launched to cultivate and incubate 412 student entrepreneurial projects; 62 workplace experience bases such as Alibaba, SUPCON, and Hikvision have been established. There were 30,976 workplace experience students; 113 large-scale comprehensive recruitment activities were jointly organized with universities, providing 493,197 employment internship positions, 533 employment and entrepreneurship themed speeches were successfully held, and 570 "face-to-face tutor" on-site activities were held, benefiting 50,078 students.
At the launch ceremony that day, Fudan University, Nanjing University, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics were awarded the license to establish the "Mentorship Program" service center. At the "Mentors and Friends Forum", five outstanding "mentors" and "friends" used the TED speech model to share the theme of employment and entrepreneurship, attracting nearly a thousand college students to listen.
