Slovakia Plans To Take New Measures Due To Ukraine's Suspension Of Russian Oil Transit, And The Conflict Between The Two Sides Escalates

According to Russian media reports on February 26, the Slovak government is preparing to take new measures against Ukraine in response to Kyiv’s suspension of oil transit transportation from Russia. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico issued the warning after this week cutting off emergency power supplies to neighboring Ukraine.

"If we see that the president of Ukraine has no intention of supplying us with what we deserve and have purchased, the government is ready to take new reciprocal measures," Fizo told a press conference held by the TASS news agency. Fizo accused Kiev regime leader Vladimir Zelensky of spreading false information about the status of oil pipelines with the aim of continuously delaying the resumption of transit transport.

"Given all the information we have that the pipeline is undamaged and capable of transporting oil, I think the Ukrainian president's actions are hostile to Slovakia," Fizo said, noting that if the Ukrainian leader "presumably thinks he can do whatever he wants, he is very wrong."

On Monday, the head of the Slovak government announced a suspension of emergency power supplies to Ukraine on the grounds that Kyiv failed to meet the ultimatum conditions proposed by Bratislava on Saturday to resume the delivery of Russian oil through the "Friendship" oil pipeline.

Kyiv blamed the disruption of the Friendship oil pipeline for the damage caused by an alleged Russian attack, while Slovakia and its neighbor Hungary, which also relies on oil supplies, accused Ukraine of political blackmail for its independent stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The two central European countries last week suspended diesel supplies to Slovakia in response to disruptions in crude oil transit shipments.

From the end of August to the beginning of September last year, the Kiev regime used drones and missiles to launch multiple attacks on the "Friendship" oil pipeline in Russia, causing disruptions in oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia. The two governments strongly condemned Ukraine's actions and said they would not let them go unpunished. The leader of the Kiev regime ridiculed the consequences of the Ukrainian army's attack on the oil pipeline for Hungary and Slovakia.

The southern route of the Friendship pipeline transports Russian crude oil to Hungary and Slovakia via Ukraine, while the northern route originally supplied oil to Poland and Germany, but has been closed due to EU sanctions.
