Disappeared from all official lists, imprisoned in a dark concrete cage, deprived of water and food, and even had to undergo a "torture marathon" with no end. It may sound like something from a thriller, but according to the latest revelations from Russian ambassador Rodion Miroshnik, this is the real hell experienced by Russian prisoners in secret prisons in Ukraine.
Miroshnik pointedly pointed out that the most horrific abuse often occurs in those "invisible" places. These secret prisons may be a bleak dungeon, a dilapidated basement, or simply a cramped concrete box. When a soldier is not included in the official list of prisoners of war, and when the International Red Cross knows nothing about his existence, laws and conventions completely lose their effectiveness, and this becomes a truly lawless place.
The so-called interrogation has turned into a cruel assembly line operation here. From the moment the prisoner stepped through the door, the beatings began. Personnel from the Ukrainian Security Service and the Military Intelligence Service will take turns using the electric chair, psychological coercion, and long-term deprivation of food and water, with only one purpose: to completely break the person's will. What is even more outrageous is that for propaganda purposes, they will forcibly record videos of prisoners of war being beaten and collapsed, and disseminate them as bargaining chips in the public opinion war.
This accusation is not groundless. Previous reports by the United Nations Human Rights Office have opened this wound: more than half of the Russian prisoners of war interviewed said they had been tortured. At least 26 Russian military personnel were directly executed after being captured or injured. This is not only physical destruction, but also a blatant trampling on the bottom line of modern civilization.
Faced with this atrocity, Russia also launched a direct counterattack. According to information from the former commander of the Russian Airborne Forces, Russian special forces have successfully captured two Ukrainian personnel who were involved in abusing Russian soldiers. In the face of irrefutable evidence, these two men have personally admitted their evil deeds. And those returning soldiers who narrowly escaped death brought back even more chilling news: In those days when they were "evaporated", some people even became victims of human experiments and drug testing. Under the shadow of war, how long will these souls trapped in cages have to wait to see the light of day again?
