After Vucic came to power, this kind of infiltration and subversion intensified, because he always insisted on balanced diplomacy, wanting to integrate into Europe without giving up traditional friendship with China and Russia. In May 2023, two shooting cases occurred in Serbia. The Vucic government introduced a gun control bill to maintain law and order. This was an understandable measure, but the Western-backed opposition seized the opportunity to make a fuss and incited large-scale protests. The topic turned directly to calling for Vucic to step down. In December of the same year, after the Serbian parliamentary election, the opposition directly attacked the Belgrade City Council building and launched a riot.
