Clinical progress of iPSCs in the treatment of multiple diseases

In recent years, with the continuous breakthroughs and innovative development of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology, this revolutionary regenerative medicine technology has made many remarkable breakthroughs.

Many clinical cases that have initially shown positive effects have emerged with the increase in clinical translation research on iPSC technology, bringing new hope and potential ways for the treatment of many refractory diseases.

iPSCs and cerebral infarction

In January 2024, the team of Professor Yang Zhiquan, Director of Functional Neurosurgery at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, completed the world's first clinical administration of iPSC-derived forebrain neural precursor cells for the treatment of cerebral infarction. After 21 days of observation, the patient's physical indicators were normal and he was successfully discharged from the hospital three days after the operation. The subjects were in good condition 3 weeks after administration, and the overall condition was stable. The patient felt that the grip strength of the hand on the hemiplegic side had slightly improved, and there was a preliminary trend of improvement in muscle strength.

iPSCs and Parkinson’s disease

On April 16, 2025, Jun Takahashi's team at Kyoto University conducted an open-label, single-center phase I/II clinical trial. A total of seven patients with Parkinson's disease aged 50-69 years received bilateral transplantation of dopaminergic precursor cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC).

Clinical study results showed that subjects showed good safety within 24 months of administration, and there was a significant improvement trend in motor symptoms.

iPSCs and diabetes

On April 30, 2024, Professor Yin Hao’s team from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University (Shanghai Changzheng Hospital) and Professor Cheng Xin’s team from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences published research results in Cell Discovery.

This study reported that the transplantation of autologous regenerated islets derived from iPS cells began to completely wean off exogenous insulin at the 11th week after surgery. The oral hypoglycemic drugs (sugarpine and metformin) were gradually reduced after the surgery, and the drugs were completely withdrawn at weeks 48 and 56. The patient has been completely weaned from insulin for several months.

This is the first case report in the world in which autologous regenerated islet transplantation derived from stem cells successfully cured diabetes with severely impaired islet function.

iPSCs and heart failure

On April 8, 2025, Cuorips announced that its research and development team had developed a cardiomyocyte patch derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS). This product is used to treat heart failure.

A commercialization application for the production and sale of regenerative medicine products has been submitted to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. If approved, the product would be the world's first medical product to use induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells for treatment.

The core technology of this patch is to differentiate human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) into cardiomyocytes and create an ultra-thin biofilm sheet with a thickness of only 0.1 mm.

This 4-5 cm diameter cell sheet can beat stably at a physiological rhythm of 60 times per minute and is attached to the surface of the patient's damaged heart through minimally invasive surgery to promote angiogenesis and myocardial repair. Recently, I found that many friends are asking this question, why is the local connection missing on my computer? In fact, there are many reasons for the local connection disappearing or disappearing, but it is nothing more than hardware and software problems. Today I will share with you the solution to the local connection missing.

1: The local connection is gone, but you can still access the Internet

Sometimes we find that the local connection is missing and we can still access the Internet. At this time, it means that there is no problem with the hardware. So why is the local connection not displayed on the desktop? Most of the reasons are because people accidentally set the local connection to hidden when using the computer, or the local connection is not displayed normally due to virus damage.

Solution: If you have not set up a network connection recently, you can generally find the local connection by using the following method. First, perform a full scan of the computer to see if there is a virus that destroys the local connection. If there is a virus, it is probably damaged by a virus. If it is still not displayed after the virus is removed, we can go to the next step.

1. Plug and unplug the network card once

If it is an independent network card, the loss of local connection is mostly caused by poor contact of the network card. Reasons include poor hardware contact caused by vibration of the host or excessive dust caused by not cleaning for a long time.

Solution: Shut down the computer, unplug the power plug at the back of the host (very important), open the host, remove the patched screws on the network card, and carefully unplug the network card. Use tools to clean the dust on the motherboard (preferably a hair dryer), especially the slot of the network card. Wipe the surface of the network card clean with a dry rag (must be dry), and then wipe the metal contact piece with an eraser. Insert the network card into its original position, plug in the power, and start the test. If the local area connection icon is found normally, seal the chassis.

If there is still no local connection, try again. If it still doesn't work, it is probably a problem with the network card. Find a new one or buy a network card to test.

2. Check the device manager to view the status of locally connected devices.

Right-click "My Computer" - "Properties" - "Hardware" - "Device Manager" - look for at least one item in the "Network Adapter" item in the device list. If it is empty, it means that the system has not detected the network card. Right-click the icon of the small computer at the top and "Scan for hardware changes" to check. If there is still no problem, it is a hardware contact problem or a network card problem.

The above is the network card information of the author's computer. From it, you can see that there are two network cards. Because the author's computer is a laptop, there is an extra wireless network connection device. If there is no network adapter in the device, it means that the network card is not connected properly or is faulty. If a yellow exclamation mark appears, it means that the driver is not installed properly, or the driver is incorrect.

Right-click the corresponding network card in the network adapter and select "Properties" to see the picture below. Here you can see the operating status of the network card, including status, driver, interrupt, power control, etc.:

Solution: If the network adapter cannot be found, it means that the computer has not detected the network card. You need to check whether the network card is not plugged in properly or is faulty. If a yellow exclamation mark appears on the name of the network card device, it means that the driver is incompatible. Please use software such as Driver Wizard to reinstall the driver.

If the above problems have not been resolved, you can use the following rarely encountered methods to deal with them.

Three: The local connection is lost due to the shutdown of the service process, causing the local connection to disappear.

Some friends accidentally disabling certain services may also cause local connection loss.

Please pay attention to the "Startup Type" and "Service Status" here. The startup type of manual or automatic is not mandatory. If you feel uneasy, you can change it to "Automatic". The important thing is the "Service Status", which must be "Started". If we look at the "Dependencies" button, we will see "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)". After setting up the service process, right-click "Network Neighborhood" - "Properties" and see the network connection window. Refresh it several times to see if it has any effect. People's demand for better, newer, and more interesting forms of entertainment never stops. During holidays and slack winters, people need more and better ways of leisure and entertainment besides the "four-piece suit", and the gathering of people is always conducive to consumption growth and further drives economic growth. The people of Shihezi look forward to more high-quality entertainment activities and a higher quality of life.

3. An unexpected surprise: the accelerated formation of low-altitude economic industrial clusters

In addition to the traditional advantageous industries, Shihezi's drone manufacturing is the most surprising. When I came back this time, I was delighted to find that the drone and low-altitude economic industry clusters in Shihezi are accelerating. This is another major advantageous industrial cluster created by Shihezi in addition to the traditional advantageous industries such as cotton textile industry, animal husbandry, photovoltaic, silicon-based, aluminum-based, and coal chemical industries.

Shihezi successfully held the 2024 and 2025 Low Altitude Industry Innovation and Development Conference. The two conferences gathered industry resources, carried out policy interpretation, corporate signing and flight demonstrations, and built Xinjiang's leading low-altitude economic exchange and cooperation platform. The two conferences effectively promoted policy implementation, industrial agglomeration and scene expansion, making Shihezi the source and pioneer area of low-altitude economic development in the Corps and even the northwest region, laying a solid foundation for the construction of the entire UAV industry chain.

Relying on the General Aviation Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park, Shihezi has created an important UAV R&D and manufacturing base in the northwest region. China's first large-scale civilian drone, Hongyan (HY100), has achieved large-scale mass production in Shihezi, filling the gap in the mass production of large-scale drones in my country. The park has a modern pulsating production line and stable batch production capabilities, forming a complete manufacturing chain from R&D, manufacturing to delivery and service, driving the gathering of upstream and downstream enterprises and becoming an iconic carrier of new quality productivity in the city.

Shihezi drones have been deeply integrated into production, life and social governance, and their application scenarios are widely spread. In the agricultural field, UAV plant protection has greatly improved the efficiency of cotton fields and grain crop management and protection; in the logistics field, Hongyan large-scale UAVs have been put into regular freight routes to solve transportation problems in remote areas; in urban management, UAVs are used for high-altitude inspections, emergency rescues, and environmental monitoring; at the same time, low-altitude tourism, smart inspections and other scenarios are constantly expanding, truly realizing the industrial transformation of "from being able to fly to being useful" and injecting aerial kinetic energy into high-quality urban development.

The young city is full of fireworks, and the city of military reclamation is bursting with new industrial light. When I returned to my hometown of Shihezi this time, I really felt the vitality of this new military reclamation city. Carrying the original aspirations of generations of military reclamation people, Shihezi’s traditional agriculture and industry have been continuously transformed and upgraded, and the low-altitude economy is becoming another ray of industrial light in Shihezi. From the lively street markets to the popular new consumption places, from the solid industrial foundation to the ever-changing urban landscape, Shihezi is moving towards high-quality development at a solid pace. I sincerely wish my hometown will get better and better.

Shenwan Hongyuan Research "Spring Festival Insights" series of studies: Since 2018, the Shenwan Hongyuan Research Institute, known for its ideas and systems, has continued to practice grassroots insights into China's national conditions. During the Spring Festival of 2026, Shenwan Hongyuan Research, in order to further understand the national conditions and people's sentiments, improve its research capabilities, and cultivate feelings for the people, calls on analysts to review the past and sum up experience, look forward to the future, and forge ahead.
