On March 28, Beijing time, at the Portuguese station of the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), Zhang Xue’s 820RR-RS motorcycle won the championship with an advantage of nearly 4 seconds, breaking the decades-long monopoly of European, American and Japanese brands in one fell swoop.
The "invisible force" behind the championship car comes from Jiangmen, Guangdong, a manufacturing center in the west wing of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. For every five motorcycles exported across the country, one is produced here.

Champion racing car "Jiangmen Mark": core components play the powerful sound of world speed
Jiangmen is the country's first "China Motorcycle Industry Demonstration Base" and one of the three major motorcycle industry bases in the country. Behind the "champion" motorcycles that hit the Internet, there is strong support from many parts companies in Jiangmen: exhaust pipes, engine cylinders, helmets, etc. are all from Jiangmen.

The helmet worn by the winning driver was produced by a local company in Jiangmen City. The company's independent high-end brand "LS2" has not only frequently appeared in world-class events such as MOTOGP, but has also been selected by the bobsleigh teams of Switzerland, Austria, Romania and other countries at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The exhaust pipe is made by a local company in Jiangmen City. In order to meet the emission and top-speed power requirements of the championship-winning racing car, the company used carbon fiber, aircraft-grade aluminum alloy and titanium alloy materials in the muffler segments of the racing car, overcoming the problems of forming and welding.
The engine cylinders are produced by a company founded by a Taiwanese businessman in Jiangmen. In 2008, facing the transformation pains of the domestic motorcycle industry, the company tackled the ceramic cylinder track, broke through technical barriers, and "protected" racing.
"Efficient construction" of industrial ecology: Jiangmen Motorcycle creates "half-hour industrial circle"
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the total industrial output value of Jiangmen City's motorcycle industry chain increased from 19.412 billion yuan in 2020 to 41.809 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2025, with an average annual growth of over 16%.

As early as 1992, the Sino-foreign joint venture Dachangjiang Group (Haojue) was established, introducing products and technologies from Japan's Suzuki to produce motorcycles and their parts. By 1998, Jiangmen's annual motorcycle output had exceeded 230,000 units, with an annual output value of nearly 2 billion yuan.
At the turn of the century, Jiangmen positioned the motorcycle industry as one of the city's pillar industries and launched a series of preferential policies, attracting many motorcycle and spare parts manufacturers to settle here.
In 2003, Jiangmen was awarded the title of the country's first "China Motorcycle Industry Demonstration Base" by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Up to now, Jiangmen has gathered more than 110 regulated motorcycle companies, forming a complete chain from front-end design, raw material supply, parts production, vehicle manufacturing to sales and after-sales service. Among them, three companies are all ranked among the top ten exporters of fuel motorcycles in the country.

As the core motorcycle production area in Jiangmen City, the total industrial output value of the Pengjiang District motorcycle industry cluster from January to November 2025 was 26.98 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%; the total export volume was 9.36 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 59.6%. The total export volume of fuel motorcycles accounted for approximately 13% of China's and one-third of Guangdong Province.
Duruan Town, Pengjiang District, known as the "Motorcycle Town", has gathered more than 1,000 motorcycle and spare parts related companies, and you can produce a motorcycle "without leaving the town".
The competitiveness of Jiangmen's motorcycle industry stems from its extreme supply chain efficiency. In Jiangmen, there is a "half-hour supporting circle" that is talked about in the industry. Vehicle companies can connect with key parts suppliers or technical experts within half an hour's drive and quickly respond to supply chain and R&D needs.
Exports are booming: for every five motorcycles exported, one is made in Jiangmen
Jiangmen is "China's motorcycle import and export base". For every five motorcycles exported across the country, one is produced in Jiangmen.
Data show that in 2025, Jiangmen's motorcycle production will reach 5.4338 million units, with exports exceeding 21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 40%. The export share is close to a quarter of the country, and the average annual growth rate of exports in the past three years has been as high as 30.7%.
In recent years, Jiangmen has relied on platforms such as the Pengjiang District National Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Base (motorcycles and parts) and the motorcycle "test track" to build a three-dimensional expansion model of "platform empowerment + exhibition traffic + on-site experience", innovatively guiding Canton Fair merchants to "transfer" Jiangmen to experience the charm of driving on the spot, and promoted 12 motorcycle companies to obtain over 350 million yuan of intended orders during the 137th Canton Fair.

Since 2026, Jiangmen’s motorcycle industry’s exports to the African market have shown explosive growth. According to Jiangmen Customs statistics, in the first two months of this year, Jiangmen City's motorcycle exports reached 3.26 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.4%, of which exports to Africa reached 1.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 70.3%.

In early March 2026, consuls general and representatives from the consulates general of 10 African countries in Guangzhou, including Senegal and Tanzania, visited Jiangmen for a visit.
When visiting Jiangmen's motorcycle industry, Obed Carl Buah, economic consul of the Ghanaian Consulate in Guangzhou, said that he felt that the quality of Jiangmen's motorcycles was very good, and the body was made of aluminum material, which can effectively prevent rust. Africa has a lot of rain, so this design is very suitable for their local needs.
The industry "moves forward steadily": Jiangmen Motorcycle opens up a new pattern of global development
Jiangmen proposes to use the motorcycle industry as the "golden sign" of Jiangmen manufacturing, and strives to have the output value of the industrial chain exceed 50 billion yuan in 2026.
In recent years, Jiangmen has taken many measures to accelerate the motorcycle industry by leveraging its advantages in advanced manufacturing and industrial supporting facilities: leading the way to promote upstream and downstream collaboration; focusing on investment in the industrial chain to improve the industrial ecology; leveraging innovation platforms to empower; improving policies and expanding scenarios to provide support for the industry.

Jiangmen has strengthened R&D innovation and improved product competitiveness. It has introduced "Tianhe-2" computing resources to provide algorithmic support for the R&D and design of the motorcycle industry, and used its "super brain" to empower the entire life cycle of motorcycle production.
In addition, the Jiangmen motorcycle industry chain work team has linked up with consumption promotion activities such as the "Jiangmen Tea Festival" to hold multiple Jiangmen motorcycle product exhibitions and corporate new product launches to enhance the cultural atmosphere of the Jiangmen motorcycle production base and enhance Jiangmen's cultural soft power and city visibility as an important motorcycle production base.

From the initial OEM OEM, to mastering core technologies, and then to establishing a brand, Jiangmen motorcycle industry has embarked on a road of transformation into intelligent and high-end products. Just as Zhang Xue shouted on the podium: "We won!" Today, this city is using the "championship industry chain" as the fulcrum to promote the development of the global motorcycle market.
