The woman firmly refused and wanted to return to Myanmar, but her personal freedom was restricted on the grounds of "asking for return fares." Fortunately, she took the opportunity to escape and was discovered by the Chinese police and handed over to Myanmar.
The Burmese woman involved in the case, Maya Myintai, was eventually sentenced to 11 years in prison and hard labor. The fugitive suspect in the case is also wanted.
