U.S. First Lady Melania Trump made a rare televised speech from the White House Grand Foyer on Thursday, strongly denying any substantive relationship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and calling on Congress to hold public hearings for Epstein's victims. This "explosive" statement not only caught the political circles in Washington off guard, but what is even more shocking is that according to multiple media reports, even President Donald Trump himself had "no prior knowledge" or only learned about it at the last minute.
Melania said categorically in her statement: "The lies linking me to the shameful Jeffrey Epstein must end today." She made it clear that she had never developed a friendship with Epstein or his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, and only occasionally attended parties together because of the overlapping social circles in New York and Palm Beach.
