China News Service, Xining, April 8 (Qi Zenbei) The Qinghai Provincial Emergency Management Department announced on the 8th the investigation report on the "8·22" major collapse accident of the Jianzha Yellow River Bridge construction project on the newly built Xining-Chengdu Railway (hereinafter referred to as the "Xicheng Railway"). After investigation, the accident was determined to be a major production safety accident. Currently, 11 suspected criminals have been transferred to justice, and 42 related personnel have been subject to party discipline and government affairs.

Xicheng Railway Jianzha Yellow River Super Bridge is located at the junction of Jianzha County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province and Hualong Hui Autonomous County, Haidong City. It is the world's longest-span double-track continuous steel truss arch bridge and the first railway steel truss arch bridge across the Yellow River in China.
At about 3:01 on August 22, 2025, a major collapse occurred in the Xicheng Railway Jianzha Yellow River Super Bridge construction project undertaken by the China Railway Bridge Bureau Seventh Engineering Co., Ltd., resulting in 13 deaths, 3 missing persons, and direct economic losses of approximately 48.86 million yuan (RMB).

The investigation found that relevant participating enterprises had serious loopholes in bolt quality management, illegal subcontracting of distribution beam production and no care, the design and construction acceptance of buckle towers was a formality, management of business but no regard for safety, and low quality and efficiency in the investigation and management of major accident hazards. At the same time, it also exposed the problem of insufficient industry management and supervision and law enforcement by relevant departments.
At present, the investigation team has transferred 11 persons suspected of major liability accidents and production and sales of products that do not meet safety standards to judicial organs for processing.

In response to the clues and related materials found during the accident investigation regarding the performance of public officials of relevant departments and units, the Qinghai Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, in accordance with the cadre management authority, transferred them to the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission of the Ministry of Transport, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the China Railway Group Co., Ltd., and the 42 relevant personnel responsible were subject to Party discipline and government affairs.
