At a critical juncture when the "double carbon" goal is advanced in depth and energy transformation is overcoming difficulties, my country's new energy industry has added new technological tools.
On March 28, a commercial vehicle power battery technology breakthrough and value reconstruction product launch conference was held in Fuyang, Anhui. At the meeting, the sodium-ion battery commercial vehicle solution of Zhongke Haina Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Zhongke Haina) was officially unveiled. This innovative achievement not only achieves a double breakthrough in the "technology + industry" of sodium-ion batteries in my country's new energy field, but also injects an independent and controllable core technology engine into the 100-billion-yuan commercial vehicle electrification market.
Chen Liquan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, believes that the sodium-ion battery commercial vehicle solution is another milestone in the accumulation of sodium power technology. As an important cornerstone of the new energy industry, sodium-ion batteries will work with various power battery technologies to support the grand blueprint of "Electric China" and "Zero-Carbon Future".
With the advent of the era of comprehensive electrification, the new energy market is embarking on the journey of commercial vehicle electrification. On the one hand, new energy commercial vehicles have diverse application scenarios, including trunk freight, short-duration and enclosed scene transportation, construction, urban buses, logistics and distribution, and many other fields. On the other hand, the electrification space in each market segment has not been fully released. Except for urban buses, which have an electrification penetration rate of more than 70%, the electrification rate of other commercial vehicle scenarios is mostly less than 10%. With the rapid development of the industry, end users have also put forward higher requirements for power battery systems.
Against this background, Zhongke Haina launched the world’s first sodium-ion battery solution for new energy commercial vehicles. This solution is designed to meet the differentiated needs of different scenarios. The energy density of the cells used exceeds 165Wh/kg, and it can quickly complete 100% charging in 20 to 25 minutes. In addition, the cycle life in fast charging mode can still exceed 8,000 times, and the battery has remaining power. The measurement accuracy can be accurate to within 2%, and the temperature rise of the whole package is ≤10°C for fast charging. Combined with the performance advantages of stable discharge in a wide temperature range of -40°C to 45°C, it can effectively reduce battery energy loss, greatly improve power utilization, and provide all-weather reliable support for commercial vehicles.
Li Shujun, general manager of Zhongke Haina, told a reporter from Securities Daily that compared with existing conventional solutions for commercial vehicle batteries, the total output of Zhongke Haina's solution has been significantly increased and the total cost has been significantly reduced. The battery loading capacity of commercial vehicles is reduced and the charging time is shortened, making commercial vehicles more economical, thereby realizing the three core values of "less installation, fast charging, and multiple uses". The proposal of this solution not only provides a practical solution for the comprehensive electrification of commercial vehicles, but also successfully builds a "sodium electricity standard" on the global commercial vehicle electrification track.
The "New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2021-2035)" issued by the General Office of the State Council clearly states that by 2025, my country's new energy vehicle market competitiveness will be significantly enhanced, key technologies such as power batteries, drive motors, and vehicle operating systems will achieve major breakthroughs, and safety levels will be comprehensively improved. This year, the "Notice on Implementing the Scrapping and Renewal of Old Operational Trucks" jointly issued by the Ministry of Transport, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Finance shows that the scrapping and renewal of National III and National IV emission standard operating trucks will be supported, and the renewal of a batch of high-standard and low-emission operating trucks will be accelerated.
Miao Naiqian, deputy director of Shandong Hydrogen Valley New Energy Technology Research Institute, said in an interview with a reporter from Securities Daily that with the technical characteristics of abundant resources, low cost and high safety, sodium-ion batteries have proposed customized product solutions for commercial vehicle application scenarios. This is an important step in realizing the industrial application of sodium-ion batteries. It is believed that with the advancement of technology and the improvement of industrialization level, various technical routes such as sodium-ion batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and fuel cells will play an important role in my country's energy transformation and emission and carbon reduction in the transportation field.
