Recently, I have become obsessed with CCTV's works, especially the two popular dramas "Love in the Age of Innocence" and "Good Times" which are currently airing. It can be said that I have just started to get involved. I watched a few episodes of both "Love in the Age of Innocence" and "Good Times" out of curiosity, but the results were intriguing. One of them became addicted to the show, and the other decisively gave up on it.
Let me first talk about the fast pace of the plot of "Love in the Age of Innocence". In the first episode, I was still saving people, but in the third episode, I had already received my marriage certificate. It was so fast. Objects such as tube towers, food stamps, and enamel basins in the play are full of age. I can barely watch the first three episodes, but the more I watch the later episodes, the more frustrating I become and I can't watch anymore.
In particular, the scenes between the male and female protagonists were very embarrassing to watch, as they acted like two parallel lines, with no intersection between the two. I thought that "Love in the Age of Innocence" would stop, but unexpectedly the ratings kept rising. Okay, let's do that! I started with a slight greeting.
Let’s talk about the big show for the audience at the beginning of "Good Times". They rescued an abducted baby on the bus. Zhuang Xianxian, an eighth-level fitter in a state-owned factory, took his three children and dancer Su Xiaoman and his two children to form a new family. It was originally a great joy, but the flame of love between the two children was extinguished when they just emerged. Zhuang Xianxian, the factory leader also did not agree to the marriage.
Among them, the one that impressed me the most was when Zhuang Xianjin's eldest daughter Zhuang Haohao and Su Xiaoman's youngest daughter Wang Yuanyuan had a direct quarrel on the street. The lines they quarreled with made my stomach hurt from laughing, such as "Your dad clings to my mom every day like a stinky fly. Your mom is a stinky egg, and your dad is a stinky fly."
What's surprising is that all the cast members of "Good Time" are familiar faces, such as Lin Youyou in "Only Thirty", Gao Qisheng in "Hurry", Sheng Changbai in "Do You Know", etc. The acting skills of these people can be said to have reached the level of perfection. It feels like they are either here to act, or they are from that era.
There is also a crying scene in Mei Ting's Chinese drama that made my heart beat for a long time. She didn't want the children to see her secretly wiping her tears with the corner of her apron, making her nose sore. It's not easy for adults, let alone a mother's love for her children. Also, after the reform of Tianyu Factory, he only held the little money to buy out his seniority in his hand, and the sight of his back walking back and forth at the factory gate made people panic.
Both "Good Time" and "Love in the Age of Innocence" have their own advantages and disadvantages, but for me personally, I prefer to watch "Good Time". The two dramas have the same points: they are both set in the early 1970s and early 1980s during the early stages of reform and opening up, and they both tell the story of ordinary people's togetherness, understanding and growth in the daily necessities of life. They also restore elements that are full of the sense of the times, such as tube towers, factories, apartments, food stamps, and going to the sea.
There are differences: "Love in the Age of Innocence" mainly talks about the love of young people, while "Good Times" revolves around the love of parents. One is about young people marrying first and then falling in love, and the other is about the ups and downs of reorganizing a family. It is reported that the ratings of "Good Time" exceeded 2.4 only ten minutes after it was aired, which shows that it has great influence. It seems that everyone likes to watch the years of ordinary families.
Are you all following the show? Do you have any other thoughts on the show? Everyone is welcome to leave a message to discuss together.
