The core area of Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport covers an area of 21.37 square kilometers. It is positioned as an important international airport in China, a regional hub airport and a gateway airport for cross-strait exchanges. It is expected to meet the annual passenger throughput of 45 million passengers, cargo and mail throughput of 750,000 tons, and 380,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings after it is put into use at the end of 2026.

Ge Hongbin, deputy general manager and chief engineer of Zhaoxiang Airport Construction, a subsidiary of Xiamen Xiangye Group, said that in order to support Kinmen's shared use of Xiang'an International Airport, the airport construction has reserved a Kinmen dedicated terminal, a Kinmen cross-sea channel interface, etc., and the Xiamen-Jinmen Bridge (Xiamen Section) will also be connected to the airport.
Ge Hongbin told the interview group that after the airport is put into use, Taiwanese compatriots can arrive at Xiamen Wutong Terminal through the Xiamen-Jinjiang "Small Three Links" passenger route. By then, the Wutong Terminal will have a direct line to Xiang'an International Airport. "After the Xiamen-Jinjiang Bridge is fully completed in the future, it is expected to only take ten to fifteen minutes from Kinmen to the airport."
In addition, the construction of Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport also highlights the maritime cultural elements of Fujian and Taiwan. With the theme of "Fujian and Taiwan at the same door, Ludao Garden", "Twenty Humanistic Scenes" are designed, aiming to create a poetic dialogue between the airport and humanities on site. (over)
