Recently, the reporter learned from Shanxi University of Finance and Economics that the school’s library won the title of “Excellent Organization Unit of Shanxi Province’s Mass Cultural Benefit Series Activities” and was the only university library in the province. In recent years, the Shanxi University of Finance and Economics Library has actively carried out activities to benefit the people, such as resource sharing, grassroots assistance, and cultural popularization, and has made outstanding achievements in the field of social and cultural services.
In terms of industry leadership, Shanxi University of Finance and Economics compiled the "2024 Shanxi University Library Development Report" with high quality, comprehensively sorting out and summarizing the work results and practical experience of the province's university libraries, and providing an important reference for the high-quality development of the province's university library industry.
In terms of grassroots assistance, we actively implement the purpose of culturally benefiting the people. In 2025, we will donate 1,066 volumes of 111 kinds of periodicals to Gujiao City Library and Qingxu County Library, which are providing paired assistance, effectively helping grassroots libraries to enrich collection resources and improve service capabilities.
In terms of cultural popularization, the library actively participated in the Shanxi Provincial Library Society's "Literary Source Lecture Series – 'Literary Source Vision' Province Tour Exhibition" and carefully planned and launched the "Birth of a Book" cultural science popularization special exhibition, which attracted more than 30,000 visitors in total.
In 2025 alone, the Shanxi University of Finance and Economics Library has won many honors, including the "Campus Practice Base for National Reading", "Advanced Collective of Higher Education Libraries in North China", and "Excellent Unit for National Reading in Shanxi Province". The relevant person in charge of the school said that the "Regulations on the Promotion of National Reading" will come into effect on February 1, 2026. The school will further enrich the supply of high-quality reading resources, continue to deepen resource sharing and external cooperation, enrich cultural service content, innovate reading service models, play a role in promoting the radiation of college cultural resources to society, assisting the construction of the province's public cultural service system, and contributing to the construction of a culturally strong province.
