In the "Justice Mission-2025" military exercise, new combat forces such as new amphibious assault ship formations, bomber formations, and drones were all unveiled. This was also the first time that the Type 075 amphibious assault ship Hainan appeared in a Taiwan encirclement exercise.
After running continuously for more than 10,000 nautical miles, this amphibious assault ship formation arrived at the designated sea area on time. It cooperated with bomber formations and anti-ship normal combat forces to carry out exercises such as ship-aircraft coordination, sea strikes, long-distance attacks, and comprehensive support. It tested the ability of integrated internal and external linkage and the ability to control the enemy from a distance with force and firepower.
Military expert Cao Weidong said that the formation's sailing distance has reached more than 10,000 nautical miles, equivalent to more than 18,000 kilometers, which shows that it has the ability to fight in long seas, from offshore to far sea.
In addition, this amphibious assault ship formation includes surface combat ships – destroyers and frigates, as well as air combat aircraft. In fact, there are some invisible combat forces, electromagnetic countermeasures capabilities and space satellite capabilities, which are the system countermeasures capabilities of "land, sea, air, space and electricity" joint operations. This long-distance attack fully demonstrated the integrated combat capabilities.
Traveling more than 10,000 nautical miles in the open sea, the ship-aircraft coordination is precise and efficient. The Hainan ship's hard-core combat capabilities are not only reflected in its calm response on the training ground, but also hidden in the careful design of every part from the deck to the cabin.
As the first amphibious assault ship of the People's Navy, the Hainan ship has similar characteristics to an aircraft carrier in appearance. For example, this straight-through deck can take off and land multiple helicopters at the same time, as well as the island bridge on the right.
The wide deck is dotted with mooring holes for attaching helicopters. Even when landing in the open sea and encountering strong winds and waves, the helicopter can park safely.
Unlike the Type 071 integrated landing ship equipped with main naval guns, the Type 075 amphibious assault ship is only armed with two "ten thousand-shot guns" and two sets of ship-to-air missiles distributed around the hull. Because it is positioned as an ocean landing base, it relies on helicopters and "Mustang" hovercraft for overland landings.
Therefore, the shipboard weapons of the Type 075 amphibious assault ship are mainly defensive in nature. Although these weapons may not seem like many, they provide an all-directional defense "protective umbrella" for the Type 075 amphibious assault ship.
In addition, the hangar of the Type 075 amphibious assault ship can not only carry multiple helicopters, but also has all-round maintenance and a certain degree of repair functions. In this way, it can also ensure that ship-based helicopters can perform various tasks during operations in distant seas.
