According to IT House news on March 12, developer Wildlight Entertainment announced that its multiplayer game "Highguard" was officially suspended today.
This game was unveiled as the finale of The Game Awards in 2025, carrying a certain amount of industry attention. It was officially launched on January 26 this year and was officially shut down today. It has only been in service for 45 days.
In terms of gameplay design, "Peak Guard" attempts to break through the "fantasy mythology" theme in the crowded shooting game market. This game is defined as a "PvP raid shooter". Players will play arcane gunners named "Wardens" to ride, fight and conduct raids on the mythical continent.
The specific combat mechanism of the game revolves around "competition" and "attack and defense". Players need to compete with other Overwatch teams for a key item called "Shieldbreaker". After a successful capture, the team needs to invade and destroy the enemy base to establish control of the territory.
However, this design was not welcomed by players. "Peak Guard" has received a lot of negative reviews on the Steam platform since its launch. Although the development team subsequently launched multiple updates including new modes to try to save the situation, the number of players has never been able to achieve a breakthrough.
