As the first undergraduate college in Qingyuan City, it took three and a half years from the official signing of the contract in February 2018 and the start of construction in September 2019 to the completion and opening of the first batch of 280,000-square-meter school buildings this fall. The Qingyuan Campus of Guangdong University of Finance officially met with the new students on September 23.

The Qingyuan Campus of Guangdong University of Finance is located in the Provincial Vocational Education City of Qingyuan City, covering an area of 1,385 acres, with a planned total construction area of approximately 450,000 square meters, and a school enrollment of 13,000 to 15,000 students, mainly undergraduates.
The campus is being constructed in two phases. The first batch delivered this year has a construction area of approximately 280,000 square meters, including 13 student dormitories in the north and south districts, two canteens, teaching, office spaces, sports venues, libraries, etc. The remaining second batch of buildings including the International Academic Exchange Center, student dormitories, teacher apartments, etc. will be completed and delivered next year.

The Qingyuan campus of Guangdong University of Finance is adjacent to Qingyuan’s “new business card” Olympic Sports Center. The school’s open park is connected to the Olympic Park and is within walking distance. In 2022, the 16th Guangdong Provincial Games will open at the Qingyuan Olympic Sports Center. Freshmen enrolling this year will witness the grand event of Guangdong sports up close.

The Qingyuan campus has complete living facilities. Dormitories, canteens, sports fields, etc. are all built to high standards. The student dormitories are 4-person rooms with bathrooms and balconies, and are equipped with air conditioning and other facilities. Each student has an independent desk, chair, wardrobe and network interface. The dormitory provides hot water for bathing.

There are two canteens in the north and south of the campus, which provide a wide variety of food with national flavors and local Qingyuan characteristics to meet the diversified catering needs of students.
In terms of transportation, the Provincial Vocational Education City area has built the first and last bus stations and multiple passing stations in the Vocational Education City. Currently, about 6 bus lines have been opened to the urban area. Most lines will have 32-40 departures every day, and it takes 20 minutes to drive to Qingyuan City.
With the construction of the Guangzhou-Qinghai integrated three-dimensional transportation system, high-speed rail, light rail and multiple expressways run through the entire Provincial Vocational Education City. In the future, the light rail station in the center of the Provincial Vocational Education City can quickly reach the center of Guangzhou.

As the only finance university in South China, Guangdong University of Finance has the most complete system of finance majors. Moreover, the school offers its most advantageous and cutting-edge disciplines in Qingyuan, with 37 majors in 13 secondary colleges stationed in Qingyuan.

The Qingyuan campus adopts a "2+2" school running model, that is, first- and second-year students study at the Qingyuan campus, and third- and fourth-year students study at the Guangzhou campus. In the next step, some majors will be arranged to complete four-year studies at the Qingyuan campus.
Yong Heming, Dean of Guangdong University of Finance, introduced that in the future, the Qingyuan campus will be built into an incubation area for Qingyuan’s economic and social development, a demonstration area for Guangdong provinces and cities to jointly build universities, a model area for national financial higher education, and a pioneer area for the construction of national application-oriented universities. It will provide “intellectual support” for Qingyuan’s scientific research and innovation, industrial transformation, and local high-quality development, and actively serve the construction of Guangdong’s financially strong province and “dual district”.
