Attention 1: The difference in admission scores between loan students and registered students has narrowed.
This year is the first year that our city’s “off-site high school entrance examination” policy has been officially implemented. Since the number of borrowing students who meet the application requirements for public high schools has dropped significantly compared with last year, and the number of public degrees offered to borrowing students is basically the same as last year, the competition for places among borrowing students has weakened, and the admission score gap between students with registered residence has narrowed.
Take the independent batch as an example. The score difference between Guangzhou Middle School's loan students and registered students last year was 11 points, and this year's score difference is 6 points; Guangdong Zhongyuan Middle School's score difference was 18 points last year, and this year's score difference is 3 points. The score difference of Zhixin Middle School was 3 points last year, and this year the score of registered students was 3 points higher than that of loan students. The same is true for No. 2 Middle School. Last year, the score difference was 1 point. This year, the score of registered students is 6 points higher than that of loan students.
Let’s take the early approval of unified plans as an example. The average score difference between the minimum admission scores of loan students and registered students in 44 model general high schools (including campuses) is 29 points, 8 points lower than last year. Among them, the average score difference between provincial and municipal model high schools is 18 points, an increase of 3 points from last year; the average score difference between district model high schools is 33 points, a decrease of 12 points from last year. There are 14 schools with a score difference of more than 50 points. In addition, there are 6 model ordinary high schools with “inverted” admission scores for registered students and loan students, an increase of 3 schools compared with last year. In Conghua District, where the proportion of borrowed students is relatively low, Conghua Middle School and Conghua No. 6 Middle School also continue to have under-recruitment plans for borrowed students.
Concern 2: Admission scores have generally declined
Compared with last year, the admission scores of various schools this year have generally declined. Taking the independent batch as an example, for students with independent household registration, the admission scores of 28 schools dropped. For example, Yuexiu Foreign Languages School dropped by 24 points, Huamei English Experimental School dropped by 21 points, and Guangzhou Second Foreign Languages School dropped by 16 points. In terms of independently approved loan students, the admission scores of 28 schools also dropped. For example, Zengcheng Licheng Middle School dropped by 58 points, Guangzhou Fine Arts Middle School dropped by 24 points, and Guangzhou Huamei English Experimental School dropped by 20 points.
Let’s look at the unified plan approved in advance. In this batch, the scores of registered students in 28 schools (including campuses) dropped, and the scores of borrowed students in 29 schools (including campuses) dropped. Among the registered students, the scores dropped significantly: Peizheng Middle School dropped by 43 points, Yucai Middle School dropped by 34 points, and Xiehe Middle School dropped by 23 points. The scores of borrowed students dropped significantly, including Peizheng Middle School, which dropped by 74 points, No. 7 Middle School, which dropped by 53 points, and Panyu District Experimental Middle School, which dropped by 40 points.
Concern 3: The "failure rate" of indicators arriving at school is high
Regarding the arrival of indicators in schools, parents need to pay attention to two points. On the one hand, the arrival of indicators in schools releases policy dividends. Some candidates enter model ordinary high schools with relatively low scores and relatively low thresholds, and enjoy relatively high-quality educational resources. This year, the city's 44 model general high schools admitted 7,269 students, of whom 1,832 had admission scores lower than the average of the lowest admission scores in the previous three years, accounting for 25.20%. Among the candidates admitted to the provincial and municipal demonstration general high school indicator plans, 426, accounting for 35.38%, had admission scores lower than the school's lowest average score in the previous three years. Among the candidates admitted to the district's model general high school indicator plan, 1,406 had admission scores lower than the school's lowest average score in the previous three years, accounting for 23.18%.
On the other hand, we must also see that some schools have a relatively high "failure rate" for the indicators. For example, the indicator plan for the High School Affiliated to China Normal University was allocated to 86 schools, of which 44 schools failed to meet the standards. Judging from the school failure rate, it was as high as 51.16%. Concern 4: Polarization of model high schools
Among independent batches, early batches, and the first batch of admissions, some model high schools have obvious advantages and recruit good students, with very high average scores.
In the independent batch, the minimum score for admission to the High School Affiliated to China Normal University is 752 points and the average score is 760 points; the minimum score for admission to Guangdong Experimental Middle School is 742 points and the average score is 750.65 points; the minimum score for admission to Zhixin Middle School is 742 points and the average score is 742 points. The minimum admission score of Guangya Middle School is 739 points, and the average score is 745.34 points; the minimum admission scores of City No. 2 Middle School, City No. 6 Middle School and the "Gentleman's Style" class of Zhongyuan Middle School are also 738 points, 730 points and 730 points respectively.
In the early approval target plan, the average admission score for the High School Affiliated to China Normal University was 730.96; the average admission score for Guangdong Experimental Middle School was 725.84; and the average admission score for Zhixin Middle School was 726.52. In the unified plan for early approval, the minimum admission score for the High School Affiliated to China Normal University was 724 points, and the average admission score was 734.88 points; the minimum admission score for Guangdong Experimental Middle School was 719 points, and the average admission score was 730.84 points; the minimum admission scores for Zhixin Middle School and City No. 2 Middle School were 718 and 716 points respectively, and 215 and 190 high-scoring candidates with scores above 730 were admitted respectively. The admission scores of Guangya Middle School, Guangda Affiliated Middle School, City No. 6 Middle School and Tieyi Middle School also remained stable. The average admission score of Guangzhou Middle School is 707.74, and the enrollment plan is completed above the early admission line with high scores and priority for admission. The minimum admission score for registered students in No. 7 Middle School in the city is 698 points, and the average admission score is 707.48 points. The minimum admission score for True Light Middle School is 692 points, and the average admission score is 703.87 points. The minimum admission scores for registered students in City No. 16 Middle School and Zhongyuan Middle School both reached 685 points and above, 688 points and 687 points respectively. The number of candidates who scored above 700 points were 196 and 412 respectively.
In the first batch, the minimum admission score of Zhenguang Middle School was 682 points, and the average admission score was 692.7 points. The minimum admission score for Peizheng Middle School's registered students is 687 points, and the average admission score is more than 690 points, at 690.05 points. Early approval of indicator plans: This year, the city's indicator allocation ratio remains unchanged at 30%. There are 9,002 indicator plans for the city's 44 model general high schools, with 7,269 students admitted, and the plan completion rate is 80.75%.
Unified plan for early approval: A total of 16,561 people were admitted in advance this year, including 16,481 from public schools and 80 from private schools.
First batch: A total of 17,813 people were admitted in this batch, including 15,047 people admitted to public schools and 2,766 people admitted to private schools.
Second and third batches: A total of 5,778 people were admitted in the two batches, including 3,682 people admitted to public schools and 2,096 people admitted to private schools.
Attention 5: Private high school enrollment numbers and scores are both rising
Except for some private high schools that enroll students in independent batches and early batches, most private high schools recruit students in the first, second, and third batches.
In the first batch, private schools continued to become a hot spot for applications, with both enrollment numbers and scores rising. The 16 private schools have a total enrollment plan of 2,794 in the first batch, and the total number of applicants is 16,655, including 4,747 candidates with Guangzhou household registration and 11,908 students studying in other places. The ratio of the total number of applicants to the number of enrollment plans is about 6:1. A total of 2,766 students were admitted, and the program completion rate was 99%, an increase of 5 percentage points from last year. There are 14 schools that have completed the program in the high-scoring priority admissions online program, of which 11 have completed the program in the first choice. The average score of candidates was 672.74 points, of which the total average score of registered students was 679.21 points, and the total average score of loan students was 671.50 points, both of which had improved to varying degrees compared with last year. The minimum admission scores of 9 schools have increased compared with last year, among which Siyuan School and Qingyuan Tieyi Middle School have increased by more than 70 points. There are two schools with an average admission score of more than 700 points. The average admission score of Tianhe School Affiliated to Guangdong Experimental Middle School is 721.09 points, and the minimum admission score is 709 points; the average admission score of Huanggang Middle School Guangzhou School is 711.36 points, and the minimum admission score is 704 points.
In the second and third batches, private schools’ enrollment increased significantly. The second batch of 10 private schools has 1,102 enrollment plans, and the plan completion rate is 100%. All of them completed the enrollment plans on the second batch of high-scoring priority investment lines. The third batch of 7 private schools has 994 enrollment plans, and the plan completion rate is 100%. All of them completed the enrollment plan as the first choice in the third batch of high-scoring priority online applications. The average admission score of the two batches of private schools was 626.43 points, an increase of 10.71 points from last year's average admission score of 615.72 points. The second batch of Tianhe Middle School Affiliated to Guangdong Experimental Middle School, the Experimental School Affiliated to Guangzhou University and the third batch of Huanggang Middle School in Guangzhou have minimum admission scores of 697 points, 673 and 692 points respectively, which are ahead of other schools in the same batch.
Attention 6: Foreign language schools perform well
Foreign language schools mainly admit students in the independent batch, first batch and second batch. This year, the performance of foreign language schools is outstanding.
In the independent batch, foreign language schools performed well. The minimum score admitted by Tianhe Foreign Languages School was 723 points and the average score was 739.83 points; the minimum score admitted by Guangzhou Foreign Languages School was 714 points and the average score was 725.58 points.
In the first batch, Xiguan Foreign Languages School, Haizhu Foreign Languages Experimental Middle School and Tianhe Foreign Languages School all completed their enrollment plans in the first batch of high-scoring priority applications. The minimum admission score for registered students at Tianhe Foreign Languages School is 707 points, and the average admission score is 719.79 points. The minimum admission scores for second foreign languages school, Xiguan foreign languages school and Haizhu foreign languages experimental middle school also reached 684 points, 676 points and 666 points respectively. The average admission score of the six public foreign language schools in the English subject was 118.67 points, which was 20.58 points higher than the city's average English subject score. The highest among them was Tianhe Foreign Languages School, with the average English subject score of the admitted candidates reaching 139.91 points.
